Scott Harris
Scott Harris thrives on experimenting with new materials, new processes and different styles. Currently you can find his work residing in the dichotomy between nature and industry, bringing forth a struggle between the industrial surface and the organic form. His process, style and material will more than likely change many times, but the one thing that will not change is his love for the process, or struggle, because he believes therein lies what the life of art is all about.
“While in the process of working, whether painting or sculpture,
is the time at which I feel a little more alive, learning, analyzing, and reacting. It is at this time that I challenge myself. I enjoy art because
of the process, not the finished product; a finished piece is simply the
by-product of the process. There are thousands upon thousands of
art pieces out there, what is it to add a few more? But to learn
something in the process…to me, that’s priceless.”

Marshall Lakes
Marshall Lakes is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina. He is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University and has worked in the illustration/comics field for the past few years. He is a founding board member of the NC Society of Illustrators. In addition, Marshall has also served three years on the board of directors for the Greensboro Artist League and the Center for Visual Arts.
“I believe every picture has its own story to tell. When I draw, I escape to another world: a world where I can step into the minds of my figures and understand what they see, feel, and experience. It is about shutting everything else out and surrendering to the moment. I can only feel this rush when I am doing my art. I hope you enjoy my exploration into the coffee shop/bar scene in downtown Greensboro. Ask me about the story.”
